The Archie’s MOSI

mosi archies

The Archies arch supporting flip flops (‘thongs‘ here in Australia) are proving to be very popular, with just about everyone trying them on in our clinic ending up buying them. While they generally do a good job, sometimes you need to get on the tools to make some changes to them for a few so that they are more effective. In this video I talk about and show the MOSI modification I make to the Archie’s when indicated and needed to achieve the desired goals (that’s my daughter in the video). The MOSI (medial oblique subtalar inclination) is a foot orthotic technique that I have liked for a long time as it ensures that the load is all medial to the subtalar joint axis which is where you want it (if that is where you actually do want it to be). I have been using the modification on prefabricated foot orthotics for a while now (and there is a whole lesson on the technique in my online Clinical Biomechanics Boot Camp course). It is useful.
